Great planning including my long run which I started at 6:30am this time, it was till hot, so maybe next week I might start at 5:30am. I could have gone 19 but decided to walk the last 3/4 mile home instead. I have to be very conservative in this build up to I don't screw things up in the process. I had some stronger/faster runs this week, which were a result of having company on runs. This is strictly a base phase so if I do feel good on some runs, I may take off as long as I don't jeopardize the rest of th

I'll admit it, I've been feeling much better on my runs as I start progressing with the mileage. However, a few things made this week a tough one. I'll even rank them for you: #1 .Drove to Methuen to run at the Whirlaway shoe store with my friend Danny Wang. My goal was to get in 12-13 miles, but most people were going 8-10. I tried adding on a few miles, got lost really bad and ended up in downtown Haverhill. After 15 miles of hammering, I called it quits. So now I'm in downtown, shirtless, at almost nighttime, wearing short shorts. I was lucky enough to chase down a ta

I will continue to increase the long runs, the medium long runs and the doubles week by week. Building a strong aerobic capacity will be key for any races that will follow. For now, the goal is to keep everything consistent, gradual and staying healthy at the same time by avoiding any races or crazy runs that will hurt my recovery process.

I'm really proud of myself for not doing any 4th of July races. Although it is tempting to do some races (especially now that I can collect prize money) , I must keep in mind the purpose of these next few months is to build a huge aerobic base. Last year I did 4-5 races because I was coming off an injury and wanted to give myself enough time to get used to that racing pain. Racing might still be in the picture later when I'm feeling real fit (aerobically) as a way of checking progress. I'm adding 1 mile every other w
