Week 8

Great week of training. Had a really good balance of mileage and workouts. Looking for another 5-6 really good weeks like this. The alteration workout felt excellent. It provided a good mix of "speed" and endurance. Next time I'm going to try 600/1000 and increase a few more miles on that workout. About 9 weeks to go until Twin Cities. Next week I will be racing a 10 mile on Tuesday and then a track 5k in Brazil on Sunday. I'm going to use them both as hard workouts and not really change much from my marathon plans.

Week 7

This is the highest mileage for long run and total in a week I've done since 2011. This is exactly where I want to be in terms of volume. Now I need to be able to do the quality workouts with this kind of volume. I had a little nagging calf pain Friday July 19th and was forced to cut the MP intervals short to be on the preventative side. I felt good again the next day. I will try to get a good set of intervals this week and even a short tempo between 103-105% MP. Overall fitness is there. Now it's time to really start the quality work.

Week 6

Continued a solid week of marathon workout build ups. Increased my MP tempo run, hill reps and long run. Next week hopefully I will get in first set of MP intervals. I'm glad to say that even though I had a small problem post Boston, I am exactly where I need to be in getting ready for Twin Cities on Oct 5. Timing is crucial and I'm going to do my best to make sure I am at my peak when it matters the most.

Week 5

Great week of training. I believe this is the most weekly miles I've done since 2011. Looking forward to increasing my MP tempo runs, hills reps and long runs!
