Summary: 92 miles on 6 days of running (15.3mi/day). Felt extremely good on Sunday's 20 mile long run, likely the best long run I've had in 2020. I feel satisfied about where my fitness currently is given that I missed almost 3 months with an injury (Nov 2019-Jan 2020). Aerobically I actually feel stronger than I was before the injury. With the current lock down/quarantine situation caused by the virus, I'm focusing on re-building much general strength that I lost during the injury. With that said, I'm being very cautious not to get "too hot, too soon" and leave my best efforts in training, both physically and mentally. I'm doing a very long marathon block with a huge emphasis on using "pure mileage" as a base in hopes of racing in the fall. However, I cannot allow myself to start doing too much too soon. The body can only handle a certain amount of mental stress before it asks for a reset. For that reason, I'm sort of avoiding anything too specific for now until the dust settles and I have a general time frame on a racing schedule. It's really tough to train for so long with no racing as you start to lose sense of purpose in training and direction on racing. As an athlete I feel that it's extremely important for me to learn to be patient and stay within the boundaries of things that I can control. I remain positive on my approach to training regardless of when I will be able to race. No training is done in vain!

  1. Good luck! Running has helped me to set positive goals. I'd like to run in Cape Verde someday.
